Frank's P.O.V
"Honey! Wake up, you've got your first day of school today! Come on!" I was woken by mum shouting up the stairs. Today was the day. We'd arrived right at the end of summer, so I hadn't had to go to school for the first couple of weeks of being here. Now, I have to. I groggily got out of bed and walked downstairs to get breakfast.
First day. Wow. Better get used to being the outcast again.
Hey, I bet there are some people into the same stuff as you at this new school. Don't give in just yet.
I told my conflicting thoughts to shut up, shaking my head in an attempt to get them away. After cereal, I went straight back upstairs, and put in an Avenged Sevenfold CD, on a very high volume. I began getting dressed, in my normal attire. Black combats, converse and a Misfits t-shirt. I applied my normal eyeliner, another thing that made me an outcast, but I like it so, I'll still wear it. I ran a brush through my hair, flicking my fringe over my right eye and chewing a bit on my lip ring and I was ready.
Arriving at the school, I wasn't surprised to see lots of jocks, cheerleaders and so on. Looks like I may just be an outcast again afterall. I thought. I heaved a big sigh and walked up the front steps, into my new doom. After collecting my scedule and map of the school, I attempted to find my first class. As I walked into the biology lab, that I had finally found after about 10 minutes of looking, I was stopped by a kind voice. "Hello, don't recognise you. Are you the new student?"
"Yeah. I'm Frank." I looked at the teacher and smiled nervously.
"Ok, welcome. I'm Mrs Trent. If you'd like to take a seat anywhere you like, we can begin." I nodded and began walking to the back, where there was whole row of empty seats. I chose a seat and pulled out my notebook.
Teacher seems nice enough. The rest of the class seem to be just like the kids in LA though.
About five minutes later, someone ran in through the door of the lab, looking flustered.
"Mr Way, please explain why you are so late?" Mrs Trent asked him.
"Car...broke...down." He replied breathlessly.
"Fine. Take to your seat and we can finally get started." She put emphasise on the word 'finally'. The boy nodded and came towards the back. He was quite short, not as short as me, but still short. He wore a Dawn Of The Dead t-shirt with what looked like girl cut jeans. His glasses slid to the end of his nose, and he pused them back up in a comical fashion. I stared at him as he sat a couple of seats down from me.
Maybe, just maybe, he's into the same stuff as me. Judging by his t-shirt...
I was taken from my unfinished thought as a paper football zoomed past my head, landing on top of my notebook. I stared at it for a second before picking it up and uncrumpling it.
Hey, I'm Mikey. I haven't seen you around before so I'm guessing you're new. How would ya feel if I offered to show you round the school? Reply back, do it descreetly though. Mrs Trent always on the look out for new troublemakers.
I finished reading and looked towards this Mikey boy. Had he just offered to be my friend? Was this the beginning of me NOT being alone anymore?
I turned the paper over and began writing,
I'm Frank and, yes I am new around here. It'd be great if you'd show me around...I have a tendency of getting lost. :D
I threw the paper back at him and as he read it he smiled up at me and tapped the chair next to him. Obviously it wouldn't be taken by any late comers...
Should I? Should I attempt to make a friend?
Oh come on! He's offered friendship, go for it!
I gave in and scooted into the chair next to him.
"Hey Mikey." I said timidly.
"Hey, you don't have to be nervous about this school by the way. If you want, I can introduce you to some of my mates. What do you have next?" He asked smiling.
"Urm...Health." I replied after checking my scedule. Mikey took it from my hands and examined it.
"Hey, you have all your classes but one with me. You're in the same class as my mate Gerard for History...I'll introduce you the next class, to all the guys." He said.
"Sounds good." I replied. Maybe my luck was changing. Just maybe I'll get some friends here. |
